What is Livna-config-display?
Please see here for more information about livna-config-display.
The advantages
Livna-config-display is advantageous for users because it allows for a single, unified library containing the routines needed to configure Xorg.conf, GDM, and KDM. From there, the individual driver packages (such as xorg-x11-drv-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-fglrx) can modify xorg.conf as needed.
The disadvantages
Livna-config-display itself has no severe disadvantages on it's own, as for the most part it's just a library. The problems arise from the way the drivers use the library. Because the drivers for Fedora up until and including F-8 modify xorg.conf each boot up and each shutdown, some custom comments or modifications to xorg.conf may be lost. See the section below for instructions on how to prevent this.
I like my xorg.conf the way it is!
If you would like to prevent the drivers from autoediting your xorg.conf any further, simply launch livna-config-display from the menu or by executing livna-config-display from a terminal and untick the option allowing livna-config-display to edit the configuration files. From this point on, the graphic driver's init service will still launched but no further modifications are made.
